USS Santa Fe

PEARL HARBOR (Jan. 28, 2014) Electrician’s Mate 2nd Class Eric Krukowski, assigned to the Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Santa Fe (SSN 763), hugs his wife following the return of the submarine to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam after completing a six-month deployment to the western Pacific Ocean. (U.S Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Steven Khor/Released)

A few years ago I had the great fun of visiting Pearl Harbor and speaking with spouses about navigating deployments and stress. I stayed at the Hale Koa for a couple of nights and the rest of the time on base. I literally felt like Hawaii was a different planet. It smells so good and the sunsets were amazing! The only thing missing from this incredible experience was my spouse. This was a true mom TDY/TAD and although I was working long hours, I sure wish he could of taken leave to accompany me! Darn Navy!

I love this photo! It happens to feature the sweetest couple and a submarine that is named for a city in my home state.

Welcome Home to the Sailors of the USS SANTA FE and Congratulations to the families! You made it!! Woot!

Have you ever won first kiss or first hug?
